張文德老師取得藥學博士後，隨即進入中央研究院、荷蘭萊登大學進行博士後研究。回台灣進入中國醫藥大學中醫學院中藥資源學系任教，負責生藥學、中藥學習導論、中藥藥劑學、中草藥產品開發等課程之教學。2012年受邀至英國西敏大學中醫暨針灸學系擔任訪問教師，負責中藥調劑與中藥炮製等課程之教學活動，並指導該系碩士班學生完成當年度最佳論文獎之研究。2013年開始，針對國際學生，在中國醫藥大學開設以英語授課之中藥課程，深獲國際學生的喜愛。同時，協助各國中醫執業團體或學生前來中國醫藥大學進行中醫或針灸見習交流，包括日本、英國、法國、以色列、美國等，負責課程協調與文化生活安排。
張文德博士也擔任臺灣中藥典之編輯委員，負責中藥材炮製規範標準之建立。此外，張文德老師也與不同的單位合作，與台灣的國家中醫藥研究所、荷蘭TNO研究院以及法國針灸公會合作，發表不同的研究報告與成果。

課程簡介
This Chinese herbal medicine course is classified according to the basic theory and directly combined with the clinical application of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).
It is different from the general classification of Chinese herbal medicine course which according to the used parts or chemical components of the medicinal materials in TCM. This course is cooperated with Mae Fah Luang University in Thailand. In
addition to learning about Chinese herbal medicines with the same/similar functions through the introduction of Thai herbs, Taiwanese students can also receive the knowledge of Thai herbal medicine, which greatly increases their interest in learning.
課程目標
- Through the familiar local traditional herbs, lead students to explore the interest of traditional Chinese herbal medicine.
- Learn Chinese herbal medicines according to the basic theory of TCM, and understand their properties, functions and clinical applications.

- Cross-country cooperation in filming: Combined with the introduction of Thai traditional herbs, this course was jointly planned and filmed by experts from Taiwan and Thailand.
- Tailor-made courses: In addition to inviting Thai experts to introduce Thai herbal medicine and learning basic Thai medicine knowledge, students can also understand the TCM theorIES, learn Chinese herbal medicines with the same/similar functions with Thai herbs, and connect knowledge with clinical application in life.
