Research interests include plant ecology, long-term monitoring forest dynamics, forest ecosystem carbon budgets, and forest conservation.

Dr. Hsieh’s main research and teaching interests include: agricultural tourism (or rural tourism, leisure farm), ecotourism, community-based tourism & sustainable development, service quality audit and practices in tourism and travel, interpretation system services, and economics of tourism and recreation. He earns certificates of Interpretive Guide of National Association for Interpretation (NAI), tour manager and tour guide (both English and Chinese) of Republic of China, and tour planning and design.
課程簡介
介紹生態旅遊的定義、理論與實務。並以中興大學惠蓀林場、北溝農場為場域，讓同學了解生態旅遊的要件，以及遊程體驗規劃等。
課程目標
使學生認識以自然資源為基礎之生態旅遊，認知生態旅遊之重要意涵，繼而能引起興趣並實際採取行動參與生態旅遊與環境保育。
適用對象
對生態旅遊感興趣之在學學生、國際學生，及國內外社會大眾。
課程特色
本課程將結合生態與旅遊之概念、理論與趨勢，使學生能更瞭解什麼是生態旅遊。另外，本課程將以英語為教學媒介語，包含教材，作業以及課後討論，期許學生能建立國際視野，並以永續性角度的推展以臺灣自然資源與特色為基礎之生態旅遊。
